No. 01   /   About the House

A quiet house of useful things, built in Accra.

We are a small team with one shared idea: that the ordinary objects you live with every day deserve attention. Methan Consult Limited is how we put that idea into practice.

How we came to be.

01

A single shelf on Boundary Road.

In 2019, our founder opened a small storefront in East Legon with roughly forty items on the shelves: a few cast iron pans, a stack of linen aprons, and a collection of imported glassware. The idea was simple. Sell things worth keeping, and explain why.

Word spread slowly at first. A neighbour told a friend. A friend told a cousin. By the end of that first year we had tripled the inventory and started the newsletter that still goes out on the last Friday of each month.

02

Working with Ghanaian makers.

By our second year we had begun commissioning pieces directly from small studios across the country. A ceramics workshop in Adenta. A leather atelier in Osu. A family run brass foundry near Suame, Kumasi. Most of the things we are proudest to carry today started with a long conversation and a short drive.

These partnerships still anchor the shop. Roughly a third of our catalogue is produced within a two hour radius of our front door.

03

Five shelves under one roof.

Today, Methan carries over a thousand items across five categories: household, kitchen and dining, personal care, small electronics, and stationery. We still apply the same test to every piece we buy. Would we use it at home. Will it hold up. Does it say what it means.

If the answer is not yes to all three, it does not make the shelf.

04

What comes next.

A second location is in early planning for 2027, likely in Kumasi. Our online catalogue is being rebuilt to accept international orders by the end of this year. And the newsletter, now in its seventh year, is going to become a quarterly print journal as well.

Quiet growth, chosen carefully. That has always been the plan.

No. 03   /   Mission

Three things we ask of every object on the shelf.

01

Made to last.

We favour materials that age well, repairs that can be made, and forms that do not chase a season. We would rather sell you one good kettle than three mediocre ones.

02

Honest about origin.

Every product page tells you where the item was made and, where possible, by whom. We do not dress imports as local, and we do not inflate the story behind a piece.

03

Quiet, not loud.

We design the shop and the shelves to stay out of the way. The objects are the point. Our job is to arrange them with care and answer questions honestly.
